I started About Saving Heat in 1975 a year after graduating from University of Denver Business School with a degree in Real Estate Finance and Construction Management. It was two years after the Mid-East's Oil Embargo and America was experiencing unheard of energy shortages, lines at the gas pump and escalating energy prices. I knew that if every newly built home was solar heated and totally energy independent, it would still take over 50 years to represent 50% of the United States' housing stock.
