Recessed Lights in your upper ceilings are holes in your insulation envelope. The National Electric Code requires insulation to be 3 inches away from all, except, the new insulation contact (IC) rated cans. Most recessed lights are designed to cool the bulb by passing room air through holes in the fixture. When the lights are off, either the attic air is coming down through the fixture (INFILTRATION) where you can feel the draft; or room air is being sucked out (EXFILTRATION) the hot air leaving is pulling cold air in from windows, doors, etc., to replace the loss and creating drafts elsewhere! . Our "AIR-TITE TOP HAT" simply installs from your attic over your recessed light, creating the 3" code barrier, but sealing and insulating with reflective side walls and a thin Aluminum Top that can Dissipate heat without the DRAFT!
